Bike-sharing unveiled at Columbia film festival

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - A new bike-sharing program has been tested at Columbia's annual True/False Film Fest.

The Columbia Daily Tribune (http://bit.ly/wPBnu1) reported that Columbia's PedNet Coalition organized a bicycle-sharing program for the festival, which ended Sunday. The goal was to alleviate parking problems and be environmentally friendly.

Forty bikes were available at four sites that were playing films. Participants had to provide a credit card or debit card number to take part in the program.

There was no charge for using the bikes less than 30 minutes. PedNet executive director Ian Thomas said participants were charged $10 if they used the bikes for more than 30 minutes and $20 for more than an hour. People using the bikes more than 90 minutes were charged the full price of the bike.
