COLUMBIA — Frank Haith’s short tenure as Missouri’s basketball coach has been full of doubters, non-believers and outside adversity that tried to wreck one of the most successful seasons in Missouri history.
So it was no surprise it didn’t seem to phase him when he wasn’t selected as the Big 12 coach of the year by conference coaches Sunday.
It also was not surprising he deflected credit to those around him when the Associated Press named him the Big 12 coach of the year Monday morning.
“I’m humbled by it,” Haith said. “I’m very honored and humbled by the honor. It’s just a blessing. These staff, these players, they’ve been great, and this is their award. Those guys — our players our coaching staff — are deserving of it.”
