Larrell Montez Banks, 18, Fulton, is in Boone County Jail facing charges of second-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with a Sunday afternoon shooting death of a Columbia man at his home.
Columbia police officer Latisha Stroer reported the shooting occurred at 3:09 p.m. Sunday at the home of the victim at 305 N. 8th St. near Park Avenue in Columbia.
Police responded to a report that shots were fired inside the residence. The shooting victim, Lamont Sargent, 39, was taken to a hospital and later died.
Stroer said an investigation led to the arrest of Banks at 1:30 a.m. Monday.
