COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - Delta Airlines is preparing to offer nonstop daily service between mid-Missouri and Atlanta.

Columbia Mayor Bob McDavid announced Friday that Delta will add a daily round trip June 7 between Columbia Regional Airport and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

KRCG-TV reports (http://bit.ly/AnS6xL) the 50-passenger nonstop flights will leave Columbia about 10 a.m. and return about 4 p.m.

Columbia city leaders plan to spend $40 million on airport improvements over the next seven years. McDavid says the city is also hoping to add flights from Columbia Regional to other major cities, including Chicago and Dallas.
