Council set to approve after-hours ordinance

The Jefferson City Council is set to approve an ordinance that would allow the city to revoke business licenses of after-hours clubs for failure to meet certain conditions.
The proposed ordinance, which will be voted on Monday, would enable the city to revoke a business license if the business fails to comply with fire code requirements, fails to immediately consent to a fire inspection between 1:30-4 a.m. if the business is operating, and fails to have required lighting outside. A license also could be revoked if the license holder, or the employees, knows or should have known there were alcohol or drugs on the premises or the adjacent parking lots and did not report it to the police.
