CORRECTED Your Opinion: Response on economic policies
Saturday, June 30, 2012
Dear Editor:
I am writing this letter in response to Mr. Haslag’s letter of June 18 where he was responding to my recent letter to the editor.
Mr. Haslag, I sincerely hope and pray that you are right and I am wrong.
But considering Obama’s background and the decisions that he has made, most so far have been detrimental to getting us out of this recession — Obamacare, his stimulus package, cash for clunkers, putting more regulation on businesses and on and on.
Everyone knows that doubling the tax on the rich will be only a drop in the bucket and will not solve the problem.
I sincerely doubt that I am wrong. In light of this, and not knowing what his true intentions are, I think we should be extremely skeptical, I don’t trust him.
Mr. Haslag, our president has allowed our national debt to increase $5 trillion since he took office. He insists on having a 1.3 trillion deficit year after year, refuses to cut spending or economize, ignores the fact that there will be a day of reckoning.
How can you trust a president like this to be seriously concerned about the welfare of our country?
