Three hurt in Cole County collision

Two Iowa residents were seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision Saturday afternoon in Cole County that also injured a Eugene woman.

The Missouri Highway Patrol reports a van driven southbound by Glen A. Plate, 78, of Oskaloosa, Iowa, failed to stop at a stop sign as he pulled from Heritage Highway across the westbound lanes of U.S. 54 into the path of a car driven by Patricia L. Watts, 41, Eugene. Watt's car then hit the Plate vehicle in the driver's side door.

Plate and a 76-year-old occupant in his car, Charlotte Plate, also of Oskaloosa, suffered serious injuries in the 3:49 p.m. wreck. They were flown by helicopter ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia.

Watts received moderate injuries, and was transported to St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City.

I would love it if someone posted the actually situation of what happened here. There was a truck that was parked on the bend of the road to where my grandpa could not see thus he was inching out into the already dangerous intersection (that was just build by the incompetent Mo Dot, it seems all intersections of Jeff are ridiculous). My grandpa is the most cautious driver that I know and did not simply "fail to stop at a stop sign!!!!"
