Panel OKs Cole County warning siren plan
Friday, June 29, 2012
Cole County commissioners are moving forward with plans to install up to 15 outdoor warning sirens in areas outside Jefferson City.
The county is joining Jefferson City’s government in buying the sirens, with the city buying and installing a dozen sirens inside the city limits.
With a 3-0 vote Thursday morning, Presiding Commissioner Marc Ellinger, Eastern District Commissioner Jeff Hoelscher and Western District Commissioner Chris Wrigley told the county’s smaller towns and cities they must tell the commission by July 15 if they want to take part in the county’s contract to buy the warning sirens.
