Monthly car shows up and running

Another Cruisn’ for MDA car show will take place Saturday in downtown Jefferson City.

On the last Saturday of the month, from March through September, the downtown area is filled with vehicles dating back to the early part of the 20th century up to modern times. Each event runs from 5 to 10 p.m.

Jim Strobel started the event in 1999. “On a good month, anywhere from 300-350 vehicles will be involved,” he said.

Strobel said they don’t limit what’s shown to just cars. “We’ve had motorcycles, planes, boats and sometime local tractor clubs come out,” he said. “If they’ve got an interesting vehicle they want to put out, that’s great.”

MDA benefits each year from money made from sponsorships, T-shirts and food sold at the events.
