When Skylar Lewis took a CPR class at Calvary Lutheran High School, he never expected to use those skills, much less receive a Youth Lifesaver Award.
On Mother's Day weekend, Lewis used CPR skills he had just learned in January to save the life of a man at a horse show. He performed CPR on the man, who survived and was diagnosed with a faulty heart valve.
He was one of eight people honored in six categories Monday night by the American Red Cross Heart of Missouri Chapter.
