The bad news: After 20 months of decline, the national home foreclosure rate jumped 9 percent in May over April, and Jefferson City’s rate is still elevated from the lingering recession.
The good news: Jefferson City’s rate remains far below the national average.
Market researcher RealtyTrac said the U.S. foreclosure rate in May was 1 home in 639 nationally, 1 in 1,081 in Missouri and 1 in 6,465 in Cole County.
RealtyTrac publicist Michelle Schneider said Missouri’s rate ranks 22nd among states and Cole County is No. 60 among Missouri’s 114 counties.

Yeah, maybe within the city limits. Try going out into the county some time. They have been hit much harder. Is this the hope and change you wanted?
