The good news: Jefferson City’s rate remains far below the national average.

Market researcher RealtyTrac said the U.S. foreclosure rate in May was 1 home in 639 nationally, 1 in 1,081 in Missouri and 1 in 6,465 in Cole County.

RealtyTrac publicist Michelle Schneider said Missouri’s rate ranks 22nd among states and Cole County is No. 60 among Missouri’s 114 counties.
