Your Opinion: Police assistance appreciated

Dear Editor:

I was wakened early the other morning by a phone call from my cousin in Kansas. He had not been able to get in touch with my aunt for a day or so. My aunt is not a young woman and has a bad back and hip.

I don’t have a car, so I quickly went to a local business to see if a friend could give me a ride to go check on her. As I got to the business, a police officer was just pulling up. I explained my problem to him and he immediately drove me to my aunt’s. Thank God she was okay. Her phone was just off the hook.

I was so worried and then so relieved that I failed to get the sergeant’s name. I would just like to thank him once again and all of the JCPD for the often times thankless work they do.

I’ve seen people disrespect these folks on many occasions and it makes me sick. Next time you want to bad mouth a cop for giving you a ticket, just stop and think how nice you are going to be to them when you have to call because someone broke into your house.
