Panel: Stop sign stays at intersection

Despite a request to remove it, the Jefferson City Transportation and Traffic Commission voted near unanimously to keep a four-way stop sign at the intersection of Scenic Drive and Joe Lane.

At the commission meeting Wednesday, 11 area residents voiced their opinions on the signs, with three in favor of removing the stop signs on Scenic Drive and eight opposed.

The stop sign was put in place in 2006, by direct petitioning of the City Council after the commission twice denied a request for the sign, which was intended to decrease traffic speeds along Scenic Drive.
