It’s not easy for non-BCS schools to gain wide exposure for their athletic programs. Missouri State is making a first step toward changing that.

The Missouri State University athletic department made a stop at the Capitol Plaza Hotel on Wednesday evening as part of the school’s seven-stop Summer Tour.

“I think we’re just trying to meet new folks,” Missouri State director of athletics Kyle Moats said. “The mission of the university is public affairs, so we kind of fit that mission. We like to get out and about. I think it’s good for us to meet folks and talk to folks and let fans, if they have any issues or concerns, let’s go right to them and talk about it. We usually don’t have too many of those. It’s more of just a meet and greet.”
