Jefferson City resident Dorothy Hayes-Crocker, 51, was charged with three felonies after a search of her Stover business turned up synthetic marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Also, her Stover business, Up in Smoke & Liquor 2, had its liquor license revoked after the June 8 search.
Officers of the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department, Stover Police Department, Mid-Missouri Drug Task Force and Missouri Highway Patrol executed the search warrant.
The Holts Summit Police Department and the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office were contacted about this investigation due to Dorothy Hayes-Crocker’s ownership of Up In Smoke in Holts Summit.
Officers seized more than 350 packages of synthetic cannabinoids and multiple items of drug paraphernalia including pipes, bongs, digital scales and drug masking agents used to subvert urine tests, the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department reported.
An undercover purchase of a package of synthetic cannabinoids known as “Mr. Happy” took place prior to the search warrant, according to the department. That package was confirmed to be a Schedule I controlled substance.
The substance produces a marijuana-like high.
According to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department, a clerk at the store was arrested and later released. Hayes-Crocker was charged with the Class A felony of distribution of a controlled substance near a school, the Class C felony of keeping or maintaining a public nuisance and the Class C felony of possession of a controlled substance.
Her bond was set at $50,000 cash, which she posted on June 9, the department reported.
During an interview with officers, Hayes-Crocker stated she had paperwork saying the items were legal, the department said. Hayes-Crocker then said she would not sell synthetic cannabinoids to her kids.
This investigation is ongoing and additional charges and arrests are expected.
