Legion goes 1-1 at Springfield tourney

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The American Legion Post 5 Seniors went 1-1 at the Springfield Howard Johnson Invitational on Friday.

Post 5 led NBA Baseball Academy out of Shawnee Mission, Kan. 6-0 before giving up nine unanswered runs in a 9-6 loss.

Post 5 advanced to the bracket portion of the tournament thanks to a 12-6 win against Springfield-Parkview.

Post 5 (11-1) plays today at 8:30 a.m. against Nixa.
