2 arrested as officers check suspicious vehicle

A suspicious vehicle investigation led to the arrest of two people this week in Osage County.

According to sheriff’s department reports, deputies responded to a private drive on Route E in Rich Fountain.

When deputies arrived on the scene a male subject fled on foot from the vehicle and ran into the woods nearby.

A female subject found near the vehicle was detained and questioned. She was identified as Brenda Stringer, 41, Freeburg.

Deputies called for the Osage County K-9 unit to attempt to locate the male suspect.

The dog located the man hiding by a pond in tall grass. He was identified as Kenneth McMullin, 34, Meta. McMullin was taken into custody on an outstanding no bond warrant out of Osage County for failure to appear on a domestic assault charge. Stringer was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
