Judge seals Knehans case file

Green still allows some access; trial still on tap

A defense request to seal the files in former high school band teacher Christopher Knehans' case resulted this week in no one being able to follow the case on Case.net, the state court system's online reporting system.

Judge Dan Green said Wednesday he'd see that the situation was fixed so the public could at least view the basic docket online. Green's June 7 docket entry ordered the file to be sealed, but added he would approve requests to view the file and that events, settings and trial dates would remain public.

A Cole County grand jury last October indicted Knehans, 38, of 740 Glendale Drive, on two counts of sexual contact with a female student. His trial was set to begin today, but was delayed until later this year.
