GOP secretary candidates pushing voter photo ID

Because a court ruling cited a problem that lawmakers then didn't fix, Missouri voters won't be deciding this year if the Constitution should be changed to require voters to show a photo ID in order to cast a vote.

But the three Republicans running for secretary of state in this year's August primary all say the state should have that mandate.

And if elected to succeed Robin Carnahan, the current secretary of state and an opponent of the photo ID requirement, all three say they would work to get it on the books.

The trio are current lawmakers: Sens. Scott Rupp, R-Wentzville; Bill Stouffer, R-Napton; and Rep. Shane Schoeller, R-Willard and the House speaker pro tem.
