3 charged for April protest at Whiteman AFB
Friday, June 8, 2012
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — One of three men charged with trespassing after an April protest at Whiteman Air Force Based pleaded guilty and was sentenced to four months in federal prison.
Fifty-five-year-old Mark F. Keeney of Omaha, Neb., pleaded Wednesday to the misdemeanor federal charge.
The other men charged are Ronald L. Faust, a 68-year-old retired minister from Kansas City, and 55-year-old Brian D. Terrell of Maloy, Iowa. Both are scheduled for trial on Sept. 5.
The men were part of a group that met at the base near Knob Noster on April 15 to protest the use of drone aircraft by the U.S. military.
The Kansas City Star reports (http://bit.ly/LzoVDz) attorneys for Faust and Terrell say they are still determining a strategy for the defense.

Is this an example of suppression of freedom of speech? Just askin'. New laws have been signed by Obama.

No, they deliberately walked across the line and onto the military base after being warned not to by MP's . They chose to do something illegal.

Good grief. Trespassing on a military base is not "speech," RetiredOne. A military base is not a public place where people have the right to protest.
This is long-standing law, and I think you can see why. You can't just creep around a base and call it your freedom of speech. Nothing Obama has done has changed that.
RetiredOne, I like your instict to conspiracy though. I mean, Obama MUST have done something evil, right? If we don't allow people to just walk around on a military base whenever they want to, it must be because of evil liberal tyranny, right?
Good grief, man. Lay off the Glenn Beck.

And just because a person asks a question to get more information doesn't mean they are suggesting conspiracy theories or any other negativity towards the president.
He just asked a question Sequoia. No need to bite his head off.

He did not just ask a question . . . he clearly implied that Obama had done something to limit Americans' freedoms. His head was not bitten, he was called out for being a tool.

"he was called out for being a tool." -- More tolerance from the left.

It's not intolerance, it's poetry. I have no intolerance for Retired's use of FOX-grade misinformation, I just want to be sure that it is clearly noted.

Noted. Judging by ratings, MSNBC and CNN are faring well with the information they're doling out. I turn to Dan Rather to get truthful information myself.

Easy Sequoia, Retired was only posing a question. Under the Republican law signed by Obama, they could have been thrown into prison indefinitely without due process.

That's more like it! :)

That's right . . . you need an avatar, and I don't mean the movie:)

I should have been there to protest the protestors protesting just to make things interesting.

Fine. I want to go to the next Klan demonstration and I will show everyone (including the media) the bus ticket that you paid for to make it all happen.

As a sign carrying counter-protester I assume . . .

Wow, I was just asking. Didn't mean to touch that sensitive nerve. We all know that Obama would never do anything to restrict our freedoms -- never, never. What is that buzzing I hear? There is a small plane circling my house. There are two guys with SS pins in their lapels coming up my walk...

Yeah, for some reason on this forum it is all about attacking the posters, not about expressing opinions regarding the topic.
