The calendar says June, and what better time than when it's hot to see some hotly contested high school basketball action.
That will be the case over the next three days, as the inaugural Capital City Shootout will feature 53 teams competing in 191 games.
The event dreamed up by Jefferson City head coach Blair Thompson and Helias head coach Josh Buffington will play out in nine different gyms around town. It's made up of 26 schools and Helias has entered the most teams, five, while Jefferson City and Rolla are represented by four each.
