Within moments of walking back into the doors at Jefferson City Medical Group, Tim Garvey was once again visiting with cardiac patients just as he did a year ago, before he was deployed to Afghanistan.
Garvey, who served with the 548 Transportation Company of the Missouri National Guard, was facing a situation common to Guardsmen and other service members returning from deployment: resuming life back at home and at work.
When Garvey left for his first deployment with the Guard, he had a lot on his mind. His wife had had a liver transplant not long before, and he wondered who would help her with tasks around the home and how his coworkers would handle his absence.
