With the new Cole County Jail up and running, county commissioners have decided to have an architectural firm move ahead with plans to improve the sallyport at the old county jail behind the courthouse.
As part of the new jail project, commissioners set aside $1 million for work at the old jail to facilitate transportation and handling of prisoners into and out of the county courthouse.
