The laws regarding cannabis were born on the wings of lies and pampered by propaganda such that now the tightly held belief systems are going to have to reckon with the desire of all humanity to live with dignity, free from the oppressive tyranny that ignorance and bigotry have spawned.

Lies, propaganda, and an "ethical drug" industry (that's the name they go by, I didn't invent that) that didn't want any home-grown competition. Don't forget the role of racial prejudice in the reefer madness that still separates this country from a ratioinal approach to drug policy.

It's really sad to think there are still people who believe this. I really hope you will do some research on the subject and know both sides of the story thoroughly before you make decisions on which side to stand up for. If you believe marijuana should remain illegal, or at least remain on schedule I, you are definitely in the minority.

Is it fair to even call grass a drug?

Regardless of what you call it, marijuana does not rationally belong in the Schedule 1 classification, which is for drugs with no medical benefit. Marijuana has benefit for cancer patients who are too nauseous to eat.
Another difference is that all other Schedule 1 drugs can kill you by overdose, whereas no human being has ever died of a cannabis overdose.
And look at Graceful, defender of freedom and enemy of tyrants! First time I ever saw Grace post anything good about what the federal government does right in her mind... prohibition! Boy, that's a policy with a long history of success, eh?

It is after all, a weed. It grows in ditches and fields like other weeds. If that weed field catches fire, and you remain down wind, the possibility of being inflicted by serious thirst and munching could occur. Banning weeds is dumb.
