Jefferson City bar faces warning from regulators

Jefferson City's Liquor Control Board has directed the city counselor to draft a letter to the owners of an Ellis Boulevard bar, informing them of recent complaints and issuing a warning.

At the board meeting Thursday, members were told of several complaints received by the city alleging Thunderstruck, 510 Ellis Blvd., has allowed patrons to drink alcohol outside of the building at a table on the sidewalk.

I saw this same evil happening uptown at Madison's the other day. Doesn't Thunderstruck know that what is good for the goose is not good for the gander around here?

Some sins are OK if they are done by uptown people.

JCLifer, Madison's has the Sidewalk cafe permit that allows them to have outdoor liquor and several other bar's downtown have that permit as well (High Street Pub and J Pfenny's do, not sure on the Spot or Spectators). Thunderstruck does not have that permit and from what I remember from when it was Southern Comfort they didn't have the permit either.

Don't let the permit fact slow you down, Lifer. I'm sure your analysis of the class discrimination at work in the Jeff City government is spot on.

Good thing you got right on the internet to accuse people of bad faith before you had any idea what you were talking about. Haven't we already had this conversation?

What good does that permit do? Is it just a way to get a few more dollars out of a business in order for them to get their business license (which is yet another way to extract money for the city's coffers)? Educate me on what this permit is besides micro-interference.

Oh, if you reread the story, there was no mention of a sidewalk drinking permit. That is probably due to NT's reporting, but to blast me over something like that is crazy. Why didn't you blast NT for not reporting the whole story?

Lifer: REALLY? YOU are the one making the assumptions about Madisons getting some extra benefit??? did the article say anything about Madisons? this is the same thing i see on the other article regarding CC. why would you see the need to throw out that comment? but you are entitled to your opinion!

Well if they didn't ban smoking indoors this wouldn't be an issue. The people who complain about the littlest thing need to grow up or our town will cease to exist. No business wants to come into a town that the people complain about everything. And the officials wonder why kids are getting into trouble and doing drugs cause there is nothing to do in this town. Ever stop to think what Jefferson City has in it???? We have 5 McDonalds, 2 Wal-marts, 2 Taco Bells, and like 9 mattress store etc...... I could go on and on about what we have but what we dont have is something for kids to do. i think i have made point with this comment.

And those businesses are absolutely thriving. You should take a moment to notice the many fine businesses in town.

So allowing smoking everywhere will solve the problem of having bored kids. I never saw that one coming.

If you can look past bars and fast-food chains, take a notice of how many new businesses have finally arrived in JC since smoking and burning have been curtailed to a near-civilized level.

We do not allow drinks outside (even if it is water). Our tables are not on the sidewalk.
