Local woman hopes to help African girl with her dream

‘We’ve all gotta help each other out’

When Barbara King heard about sponsoring children in Africa to provide food and education, “it sounded awesome to be helping a kid.”

She didn’t know to what extent her monthly letters and financial donations were having an impact until she visited Akouto “Dovi” Kougnaglo, 8, in the west African nation of Togo this month. King met Dovi’s parents and siblings, too.

The family was amazed that someone 16 hours away by plane would come to see them and their daughter, to care about their circumstances, King said.
