Cole County Fair has long and varied history

In a young community just building an identity separate from the seat of state government, the first Cole County Fair was held in October 1860.

The Cole County Fair has had several beginnings. Each time, the event has reflected the interests of the era.

The mainstays throughout have been the livestock — hogs, sheep, poultry, beef, though those have changed a bit over the years, too.
