Blue Sunday has returned, bringing free blues and barbecue to McClung Park on Sunday.

Sponsored by the MO Blues Association, the free event will be held from 1-5 p.m. Sunday in McClung Park, rain or shine and, more importantly, regardless of heat.

Association President Peg Dzicek said the park is equipped with one air conditioned building where people can cool off and that the association also will provide various “misting stations” throughout the area.

The blues event is held annually to benefit the Blues in the Schools program, which Dzicek said is a week-long multi-disciplinary curriculum for children in fourth through seventh grade that focuses on the history of blues.

The event will feature four bands: Blues DeVille, Driving Wheel, the Joe Lewis Band and the MO Blues All Star Jam Band. While the music and food is free, sodas and water, as well as T-shirts will be available for sale to benefit the Blues in the Schools program.
