Teen’s idea leads to Fit Kids Camp

Camp at Boys and Girls Club this summer was all about lifestyle changes.

Twenty-five kids, ages 9 through 15, attended eight weeks of Fit Kids Camp.

Four days a week, they did a variety of activities.

One day a week, they listened to Lindsey Koelling, dietitian at Hy-Vee, talk about good nutrition, serving sizes and more.

Earlier this summer, 14-year-old Derrick Baker approached Stephanie Johnson, executive director of the Boys and Girls Club, about a camp that would help teens become active.
