Teen’s idea leads to Fit Kids Camp
Friday, July 27, 2012
Camp at Boys and Girls Club this summer was all about lifestyle changes.
Twenty-five kids, ages 9 through 15, attended eight weeks of Fit Kids Camp.
Four days a week, they did a variety of activities.
One day a week, they listened to Lindsey Koelling, dietitian at Hy-Vee, talk about good nutrition, serving sizes and more.
Earlier this summer, 14-year-old Derrick Baker approached Stephanie Johnson, executive director of the Boys and Girls Club, about a camp that would help teens become active.
