What were these childred doing out at 1:04 am? I agree- charge the parents with child abuse and endangerment, as well as murder.

According to fox2now.com:
A Franklin County deputy saw a car driving slowly and crossing a shoulder line around 12:00 a.m. Friday on Highway 47. The deputy tried to pull over the car as it swerved but the driver would not stop. Authorities say the driver sped off blowing through two traffic lights on Highway 47. The driver tried to make a right turn onto Highway 100 but lost control of the car and hit Aubrey Nothum who was sitting at a stop light at Highway 100 and Highway 47. Nothum was taken to Mercy Hospital in Washington, Mo and later transferred to Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur where is was later pronounced dead. Authorities say the juvenile stole her parents car and took her brother with her. She could face Second Degree murder charges

Thank you, Silverado Phil, for posting information that will, hopefully, demonstrate to those who ran their mouths (by typing) about things when they had no clue as to what they talking about, as to why they should NOT do so. (Wow! Now THAT was a sentence)

I would say they just got in the car and drove off. Parents probably asleep. We leave our keys in the vehicle at home all the time. My keys are in my truck right now at home with our 14 yr old there. When you live in the country its a pretty common thing. You can't charge the parent this. Leaving their keys in the car isn't child abuse and endangerment,

We don't leave ours in the car, but mine are in my purse and my purse is in the kitchen. Our bedroom is in the back of the house and the driveway and vehicles are in the front. It wouldn't be very hard for my son to grab the keys, get in the car and be gone without ever waking us up. Maybe a big fight with the teenager, parents go to bed, kid waits until their asleep and takes off. Pretty easy to see how that could happen.

I must be paranoid. Vehicles are locked even when they are in a locked garage but the keys all hang on hooks in the mudroom. The kids drove the truck around the farm when they were too young to legally drive, feeding livestock, picking up small bales or hauling firewood. Sometimes an adult was with them, sometimes not.

seems a little much to charge a thirteen year old with murder.
