Meta woman indicted for crash that killed toddler
Thursday, July 26, 2012
The Cole County grand jury has indicted a Meta woman in connection with a fatal car crash from February in Jefferson City.
Stephanie Wiebold, 30, was charged with misdemeanor careless and imprudent driving and an infraction of failing to restrain a child in a child restraint.
Jefferson City police reported Wiebold was westbound in the 1800 block of U.S. 50-West when she “failed to maintain her lane of travel” because she was on her cellphone, “and, therefore, drove off the road striking a rock embankment.”
Police said the accident caused Wiebold’s 2-year-old son, Dallen Rackers, to suffer injuries, from which he died a few weeks later.
