Thursday, July 26, 2012
A Mid-Missouri man was killed when two cars collided on a Gasconade County highway early today.
The Missouri Highway Patrol reports Homer A. Steinbeck, 56, Bland, died at the scene of the 4 a.m. crash on U.S. 50 about three-quarters of a mile east of Route P.
A car driven westbound by Selvin E. Garth, 20, Linn, crossed the center line and struck Steinbeck's eastbound car nearly head-on. Steinbeck's car then went off the road.
Garth suffered serious injuries and was flown by helicopter to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.
Garth was wearing a seat belt, but Steinbeck was not, the patrol reported.
