Local Muslims to observe Ramadan today
Friday, July 20, 2012
Tonight at sunset, Muslims will open their fast for Ramadan, which began at sunrise today.
They will pray and then share a meal of favorites and delicacies, repeated daily.
“Ramadan is so fun,” said Shirin Khan. “The lighter aspect is nice; we sit down together and eat special foods.”
The holy month in the lunar calendar requires fasting and charity. The side effects are togetherness and gratitude.
“The spirit of Ramadan is hospitality,” said Samina Hussain.

“Ramadan is so fun,” -- That's a first for me. I don't know what to say for this religious holiday so excuse me if I say the wrong thing. Happy Ramadan.
