Jefferson City officials are looking at ending city funding to JCTV, which would effectively halt the public television station’s operations.
City Administrator Nathan Nickolaus said upcoming budget discussions will feature a conversation about possibly ending the city’s $165,000 per year contribution to JCTV, the city’s public, educational and government access channel.

Education is important until the money runs out. Subsidy = Bad, Independence = Good
What a shame.

Inexcusable. A provincial capitol without public assess media is irresponsible. This is a critical service providing access to local and regional population by those who otherwise would have no mechanism. Yes, the content is often weird and low dollar and often of questionable value, but the city should be looking for funding assistance, and standing firm in its commitment to public access.

We don't need no stinkin counsel meetings on TV we don't need to see no city meetings or have any video record of the meetings. Citizens don't need to know what the city hall people are doing.

Looks like they already cut back on the building power washing and painting budget. Why can't government take care of its stuff?

Who really cares. Nobody watches it. If the city can save some money do it. The counsel meeting are online for viewing. Or if you are that interested you could actually attend.
