Scene One production focuses on changed life

Life is life, no matter how you slice it. But every so often, people are faced with the ever-so-elusive, capital “L” Life, the kind that’s rarely easy but always interesting.

That capital “L” Life is the driving force behind Scene One Theatre’s upcoming production of “At First Sight,” a play written by Anne Pié and directed by Claudia Scott.

Centered on a day in the life of 54-year-old widow Julia Goldman, “At First Sight” follows the events that transform Goldman’s routine, uneventful life to the Life whose aftermath she and her family must deal with together.

When Goldman is faced with a life-changing decision, she finds herself swept off her feet by a chance meeting with a man who just as soon disappears.

The box office opens at 7 p.m. each night and the two-hour performance starts at 7:30 p.m.

What: “At First Sight”

Where: Scene One Theatre, 121 E. High St., Jefferson City

When: 7:30 p.m. July 12-13 and 19-21

Tickets: $5 for opening night, $10 for other shows

I LOVE Scene One and am so glad to have had the opportunity to see three (so far) shows there this year. While I love seeing the well-known productions, these lesser known plays often give the actors an opportunity to play "meatier" characters and really get into the drama (I am pretty used to musicals where everything has a happy ending!). Awaiting my chance to be more a part of one of these productions than just helping to sell tickets!
