Knehans still listed as teacher with state

A former Jefferson City teacher facing trial for sexual contact with a student remains on the state rolls as an active teacher despite a promise to surrender his teaching license.

After a couple of previous dates were scheduled and later canceled, Christopher Knehans' trial now is set for Sept. 25.

Last October, a Cole County grand jury indicted Knehans, 38, of 740 Glendale Drive, on two counts of sexual contact with a female student. Knehans was a band teacher at both Thomas Jefferson Middle School and Jefferson City High School until March 28.
