Davis guilty plea avoids jury trial
Wednesday, July 11, 2012
Cornelius Davis changed his mind Tuesday, and pleaded guilty to two charges just hours before he was scheduled to face a jury trial this morning.
Cole County Presiding Circuit Judge Patricia Joyce ordered the state Probation and Parole Board to make a “sentencing advisory report” about the Jefferson City man and deliver it to the court before the Sept. 19 sentencing.
Prosecutors charged Davis, 26, of 211 N. Lincoln St., with stealing four laptop computers from Walmart in December. Davis also pleaded guilty Tuesday afternoon to a May 7 theft of other merchandise from Walmart.
