Regional airport plan could draw business

Eventual airport expansion seen as benefit from bill waiting for signature

An eight-line section of a 65-page bill could help the Columbia Regional Airport serve all of Mid-Missouri better, its supporters said.

“It could create an airport authority, where the different counties could get together and operate the airport,” Columbia Airport Manager Don Elliott explained last week.

And Randy Allen, president of the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce, said it’s an idea worth backing.
