La Russa, Baker spat headlines All-Star game preliminaries

This is Kansas City’s time to shine.
With the All-Star festivities starting with today’s Future’s game, there’s a lot to like in Kansas City. The Royals’ seemingly never ending rebuilding plan may actually have an end in sight, if the team can actually find a couple of quality starting pitchers to go along with its young hitters and solid defense.
And with Royals’ prospects Jake Odorizzi and Yordano Ventura slated to be the starting pitchers this afternoon, that bright future may be just around the corner.
But the run up to the All-Star game itself has been highlighted by the dustup between Tony La Russa and Dusty Baker. It wouldn’t be an All-Star game if there wasn’t griping about players who didn’t make the team. And when you toss the massive egos of La Russa and Baker into that mix, well, that’s surefire entertainment.
