Transportation Development Districts
Jefferson City has three Transportation Development Districts within city limits that increase sales taxes in retail shops within the district.
Of the three TDDs, only two are operational: the Stone Ridge TDD, and the U.S. Highway 50/63 and City View TDD. Stone Ridge encompasses all the retail stores within the shopping center off Missouri Boulevard, including Kohls and GameStop. The U.S. Highway 50/63 and City View TDD is the east Walmart location.
In those two districts, customers pay an additional 1 percent sales tax rate, bringing the total sales tax paid to 8.725 percent. The additional tax goes to fund transportation related improvements in, and lead to, the district.
