Southern Boone fends off Blair Oaks

COLUMBIA, Mo. — It was one of those teaching moments coaches are always talking about — for both teams.

After the Southern Boone Eagles had raced out to an early 17-point lead Sunday morning, the Blair Oaks Falcons had walked the lead all the way down to two early in the fourth.

For the Eagles, it was a lesson in how to finish. For the Falcons, it was a lesson in the opposite.

Over the next 4 1⁄2 minutes, the Falcons would come up empty on seven straight possessions, helping the Eagles push the lead back to eight. After weathering the storm, Southern Boone went on to claim a 55-48 win in the MFA Oil/Break Time Shootout at Mizzou Arena.
