The Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated its 2012 Gala Event on Friday at the Capitol Plaza Hotel, focusing on a theme of “Cheers to the Future.”

Each year the chamber takes the opportunity to honor several members of the community with its three annual awards — the Chairman’s Award, the William W. Quigg Award and the Chamber Meritorious Civic Service Award — but this year one more category was added to the presentations.

That town makes me want to puke. If it weren't for the locals patting each other on the backs, there would be no recognition. Why don't you clean up the east end instead of gigging your residents for more pet project money? So glad I got out of there. CHEERS!!

"Back Patters" LMAO! That's the truth!

Even though the town is crumbling and our smart kids move away and never come back, we read in the paper every month about the Chamber celebrating and giving its members awards. All these celebrations and galas and partys all the time of rich people patting each other on the back and planning new taxes to impose on the working people.

All these boarded up houses and businesses with junk cars sitting around. Brush grown up and trash laying all over. Drug gangs and robberies. No good-paying jobs anywhere. State laying off another 800 employees and no raises for the rest. Rude clerks in business and dirty restaurants. Pay day loan places. Crumbling streets and sidewalks. Gas prices and utilities going up.

Chamber wants to raise taxes to streetscape uptown. Build fancy convention center for businesses but not community center for people to enjoy, write apps for I-phones and blackberries.

How about another Chamber party?

Big fish in a small pond. Looks like a pre-transformation tax passage celebration.
