Two years after Cole County officials discovered an error in the county's surtax distribution formula - and more than a year after lawsuits were filed in the matter - there has been little change for all of the parties involved.
But after a court hearing Thursday, those involved in the process hope things can change.
The surtax issue involves an error in the distribution of surtax revenues collected by Cole County. The error has been traced to 1989 and resulted in 13 taxing jurisdictions being either underpaid or overpaid.
