Bed bug battle continues at Jackson Street towers

Progress is being made as treatment for bed bugs continues at Hamilton and Dulle Towers.

While not all of the 37 units that were found to have bed bugs have received the heat treatment, the process is ongoing, said Allen Pollock, director of the Jefferson City Housing Authority.

"It is my understanding that the work is ongoing and the company is working to get a larger heating unit," he said.

Atkins Pest Control was awarded the bid for the nearly $20,000 project and began work two weeks ago.

The company began using heat units to treat bed bugs in some 37 affected units two weeks ago. The heat method is said to be the best treatment option.
