Former inmate charged with jail property damage

A former Cole County Jail inmate was charged Wednesday with damaging jail property.

If convicted of the Class D felony, Deneze Leslie Johnson, 19, of 1307-A E. High St., could be sentenced to up to four years in prison.

Prosecutors charged Johnson with "breaking a sprinkler and causing the jail to flood with water" on Sept. 28, 2011.
