Your Opinion: Insatiable hunger for additional taxes

Dear Editor:

Yet again the people of Jefferson City (and Cole County) are faced with another tax. When will the tax insanity end? People in Jefferson City are paying nearly eight percent sales tax as is (not counting TIFs at the Eastside Walmart and Kohl's), and our "leaders" beg (and try to justify) more "revenue streams" to satiate an insatiable hunger for more money from the taxpayers.

I've read the projects dubbed "Transformation" and see the signs posted throughout the city (well-funded campaign), but the issue boils down to another aggressive push by local government to "improve" the area by picking the pockets of citizens once again.

As the economy continues to devolve (in spite of lofty words by talking heads and pundits in government and the media) we move from the recession to a widening depression.

Vote no on any more taxes, just say no.
