Your Opinion: Givens' allegation spreads falsehood Letter 1

Dear Editor:

Dennis Givens expressed shock over remarks supposedly made on "Meet the Press" in 2008 by then-Sen. Barack Obama.

Anyone would be shocked to read that a presidential candidate disrespects the flag, intends to disarm America in order to placate the Middle East, and in the past had attended flag burnings. Fortunately, this interview never took place.

If it had, doesn't common sense tell you that he wouldn't be president today? All the president's appearances on "Meet the Press" are available on line, moderated by Tim Russert and after his death, Tom Brokaw, not a General Bill Ginn. Many people don't have the computer skills to fact check.

Sadly, many more are only too eager to believe any hoax, so long as it is detrimental to the president. If Mitt Romney becomes the Republican candidate, I can only imagine what kind of falsehoods will be spread about him, his beliefs and his record. When you read something so outrageous it almost makes you laugh. Stop and ask, what comedian wrote this?
