Judge denies venue change for ex-court clerk

FARMINGTON, Mo. (AP) - A former court clerk in eastern Missouri won't have her trial moved from the county where she's accused of stealing court funds.

Rebecca Buxton, of Park Hills, is charged with stealing about $90,000 from St. Francois (FRAN'-sihs) County Circuit Court while working as an associate division clerk from 2006 until her arrest in 2010.

The Park Hills Daily Journal reports (http://bit.ly/xZZSIf) that a judge last week refused Buxton's request for a change of venue to another county.

Buxton has pleaded not guilty to the Class B felony charge and is waiting for a trial date. She's free on $50,000 bond.
