The Jefferson City Council is ready to approve a boundary line between St. Martins and Jefferson City, establishing the limits on annexation for both areas.

In a closed session vote last week, the council authorized staff to draw a boundary line between the two cities establishing where either city could annex up to, but not beyond. The council is expected to approve the boundary line at its next meeting Tuesday.

The agreement lays out the boundary line as limits of annexation, with exception to areas St. Martins has already annexed east of the line and to a portion of Binder Park that lies west of the line.

City officials have stated the agreement is the result of several months of negotiations between the city and St. Martins, and it essentially eliminates the possibility or need of a lawsuit by the city.
