Hit and Run in JC Leads to Arrests

On Monday morning, Jefferson City Police were investigating a hit-and-run accident when an officer came upon the suspect vehicle and located a driver and passenger, both of whom were unconscious within the vehicle. Cole County EMS was summoned to the scene and transported both subjects to an area hospital for treatment for an apparent overdose.

Upon further investigation, both suspects, a 38-year old male Jefferson City resident and a

34-year old Jefferson City resident, had been found to be in possession of heroin, and had been involved in a theft case some time prior in Hannibal, Missouri. Stolen items from that case were located within the suspects' vehicle at time of contact, and were taken into custody for evidence.

Information was developed to arrest both suspects for Possession/Distribution of a Controlled Substance (Heroin), and Receiving Stolen Property. Charges are pending on both suspects at this time
